My guess would be that

• Some député want to protect children from the most dangerous types of porn (which I can hear on some level, porn can be addictive for some people and can lead to negative behaviour, children are always more sensitive).
• Some probably think that all porn is bad and want to prevent anyone from consuming it, this would only be a first step for those.
• Some definitely want to be able to spy on everyone and use this as an excuse to further reduce privacy and freedom

It is to protest against a new law requiring porn site to verify the users age. Which they argue will have dire consequences for security and privacy (I fully agree about the danger)

After explaining it clearly to everyone, hover the knife above the left of the first apple as if you were going to cut it through but without doing it, move the knife slowly to the right until one of the three participants says he is happy with that share, cut the apple at that point and that participant gets that share. Does it matter that a position is mainstream for defending it ? I haven’t taken any “sides” on the AI topic in this thread, just stated my opinions regarding the subject of intellectual property, which is very inconsequential, furthermore we are on lemmy, that is not mainstream either. Do we have to “take side” and be split on every topic, tribally defending our “side”, because the other side are obviously idiots ?

I’m an advocate of full copyleft mentality : free and open source for any use, including commercial. If I’m sharing my work then anyone can do anything with it, I’m not entirely sure about attribution yet though, probably a remnant of being raised in this society…

Probably, and I’ll denounce and blame them for this just the same. My moral compass is that copyright shouldn’t exist to begin with. I never said AI companies are good or that they should be allowed to do everything, just that the copyright issue is not the problem for me.

It’s always the people that fear for their assets that want things to stay the same.

I find it interesting that people who were pro pirating, are now against AI companies using copyrighted materials.

Personally, I think copyright was a dumb concept and shouldn’t exist. It’s time we get rid of it.

They also use their phones a lot to harass each other, they can film, and take pictures of any other kid at school and post it online to harass them. Bullying has been really increasing thanks to phones in schools.

I’ve started developing my own streaming server, playback is working nice through the browser from server to tvlaptop. I’m going to integrate Transmission UI into it, and show/movie management, to get rid of sonnarr/radarr and maybe I’ll manage to get rid of jackett too, so tired of this cumbersome stack. I want it all integrated into a single server with a single interface.
