Puzzle Box

Just to be sure to avoid any puzzle box that looks like this:

Yeah I think nowhere will be 100% free of bigots that think the world revolves around them. But the way I see it, it’s just easier to disappear into the crowd in cities. You’re going to be seeing and walking past a hundred different faces in a day.

Whereas in a small town or village, you’re going to be seeing the same people over and over. And those same people you’ll be seeing over and over usually consist of pearl clutching retirees and people that barely ever left their home town in their lives and who live in a small world (but of course still think they know everything about everything). And to your point, those kinds of people tend to think that their specific culture is the default and ‘normal’ and that everyone else in the world is wrong and a heretic.

As someone that is dying to be more GNC on a daily basis, I know that I’m not comfortable in this small town where even the hobos down the road know me personally by now.

And that’s just the difference between the right and the left anyway. With the exception of extremes like nazism, a leftist government would allow churches and let these fkn clowns do whatever they want to do in their free time and live their lives the way they want. Whereas a right wing government will force their religion onto people whether they want it or not and strip generalized groups of people of their rights because apparently their imaginary friend wants them to do that.

If only the big bad left would be a little less tolerant of delusions and stupidity, maybe the world would be a better place. Because the moment the delusional stupid people get the chance, they prove to all of us why they never deserved tolerance in the first place. Seems all too clear to me now that religious conservatives simply cannot be trusted to play nicely with everyone else and should never be allowed near positions of power ever again, just like nazis.

Or a reality star and news reader. Even if they weren’t both cooked in their heads, it’s still a reality star running a country and a news reader running the military.

Trans men are foolish women who were tricked

A couple of months ago I was trying something with a second account on Facebook. Gave myself a gender neutral name, used a profile picture where it’s hard to tell, and set the non-binary flag as my banner.

Ended up in an argument with a TERF at one point. She was so convinced that I was a biological woman falling prey to “trans ideology” that she even showed up on my profile the next day, commenting on something and trying to convince me to change the path that I’m on. And just because it’s relevant to this story, I feel like I should mention that I was shipped with male factory parts.

So yeah, I experienced that first hand with a TERF who can “always tell”, who was convinced that I was one of these foolish women being tricked.

It was pretty affirming at first but as time went on it felt less like a win and made me feel awful and deceptive. Because I didn’t once mention anything about my sex but didn’t correct her either and just let her keep making assumptions. Deleted that account not long after that.

Edit: fun fact, not long after that on my main Facebook account that uses my very gendered real name, in another argument with a bigot, I was accused of being a woman pretending to be a man online.

Take time to be a better person. Doing that fights them just as well as all the other stuff.

That is a great way of reframing it. And honestly it is a big help right now with the way I’ve been thinking lately. So thank you for taking the time to post this, seriously. I’ve got some thoughts that need rearranging now.

Clone Wars. Attack of the Killer Broccoli.

Does it make me a bad person that I can’t look at a kid like this without picturing them spending their time listening to washed up reality stars, laughing at rape ‘jokes’ and licking the boots of billionaires?

I’m in a similar space right now. Tired of being angry. Tired of feeling bad about things I said earlier when the people who it was said to will never feel bad about a thing in their lives. In a perfect world I would spend my days online looking at cat pictures, not despairing while these clowns dismantle women’s rights, trans rights, gay rights, religious freedom, environmental protections, workers rights etc. and their idiot legion thinking it’s all just wonderful.

It’s a catch 22 for me because I cannot and will not keep quiet. I’ve spent my life fighting these fucking people and I’m not about to stop now that the fight is more important than ever. Even if it most likely won’t amount to anything, considering that 50% of the world’s population seems to have been replaced by pod people over the last decade.

So I dunno. I’m personally at odds with being at a point in my life where I’d like to calm down and focus on arts and good conversation and being a better person; while the state of the world calls for people with spines more than ever.

Lol so is this just a thing with Facebook advertising these days? Last time I went on a couple of months ago, it kept advertising the exact same cardigans to me over and over but from different ‘shops’. There were even two with completely different shop names that had the same sob story about a “going out of business sale”, complete with crying face reactions as if life long fans of this shop were sad about the news.

I find it kinda funny in a way. Here’s the social media powerhouse Meta making advertising central to their business but they can’t even bother doing a little quality checking and not letting it be flooded with obvious fake shops that can’t even do deception and trickery right.

“Make South Africa Great Again”

They’ll make statements like this and then complain about people assuming that they’re racist bigots. Because I’m pretty sure they’re not talking about the '90s when Mandela was still in charge and there was hope and joy in the air in South Africa.

The well run ‘South Africa’ that they long for so much was the South Africa where the previous government only bothered doing their jobs for about 3% of the country before patting themselves on the back for a job well done. And they’re comparing that to a government that isn’t perfect but that also took on a lot more work and responsibility, and hasn’t just drawn lines on a map and labelled huge sections of the country as “homelands” that they don’t need to bother with.

I sincerely hope that when these people are flying over, there’s some big mishap with aviation caused by Musk and they end up at the bottom of the sea.

Wait, so in all these years that Europeans have been making fun of dumb Americans for having a two party system, and for having no real left wing options, the UK has been basically the same?

Of course they are. They were already halfway there by spending their free time listening to assholes talk and preach on podcasts. And I’m sure it goes nicely with all of the bigoted, misogynistic content that they consume.

So did this UK “centre-left” party turn out to be a Trojan horse or what? They’ve dismantled trans rights. They plan on using AI thought police to ‘predict’ future crimes and criminals. And now they want multibillion corporations to have free access to anyone’s work without compensation.

If I hadn’t looked this political party up on Wikipedia, by this point I would be assuming that they’re a bunch of conservative wankers on Elon Musk’s payroll.

Side note: I knew a hippie woman years ago that fed her weed plants menstrual blood. Shared a joint with her and it was some good shit too.

That’s a good point. The big shift probably also coincides with more of the masses getting online. Back in 2005 I was a Symbian user and we used to laugh at the Apple people paying crazy premium prices for ‘smart’ phones that couldn’t even multitask.

This kinda follows the same pipeline that everyone else went down on Facebook and Twitter. At one point, the internet was all about Anonymous and Zeitgeist and revolution.

Then one Arab Spring and a couple of years later, we all went from Anonymous and Zeitgeist to thinking that billionaires and businessmen are the answers to all of our problems.

Yeah, I’d say, if hetero people need an excuse to have fun and celebrate something, I’m all for it. But I have a sneaky suspicion that this is going just going to be used as a hatefest towards LGBTQ+ people instead. I would love to be proven wrong but I have a feeling that straight cis people who are open minded and accepting and not bigots, aren’t the ones who feel the need to go “what about straight pride / international men’s day?” whenever anyone else gets a bit of attention.
