  • If it’s just a thought and not a phrase or words that has to be translated or anything … and an image that everyone could understand … I’d go with the standard …

Imagine everyone all over the world seeing this thought all at once and everyone confirming what they saw among themselves and everyone else everywhere … everyone confirming the same image across languages, countries, regions, religions, rich, poor, literate, illiterate.

A bonus would be to have the alien say something in a language and voice that absolutely no one on the planet could possibly understand.

Then repeat the broadcast for five seconds once a day, every day.

  • It also acts as a filter in life … whenever you meet unkind people, you stay away from them

Whenever you meet people who would take advantage of your kindness … you kindly stay away from them

When you meet other kind people, you do your best to stay with them, live with them, work with them or encourage them

Everyone always remember a few key things in life … people remember others who were unkind to them … people also remember people who were kind to them.

Life is short and it gets shorter every moment … whatever you do in life … just be kind … because most of the people you will ever meet you will only ever know for that one moment or just for a very short time.

So does mine … even now

But way back when I was built strong and 16, full of life, sugar, hormones, and caffeine (mom used to keep a pot of strong tea on the stove all the time) … I felt like I could have moved a mountain … and if someone had challenged me to move a mountain, I would have definitely tried.

It sucks to grow old and weak

When I was a teen, I used to go to the local hockey rink in town to shoot the puck around. After a storm there would be three or four feet of snow covering the entire rink. We didn’t have any machinery, snow blowers or equipment to use … there was always a stack of shovels next to the boards somewhere. I’d think nothing of it and start shoveling with a shovel like the guy in this image and spend the entire day clearing snow. Usually a couple of other young guys like me at that age would show up and in all about three to four guys could clear all that snow in about six hours of work.

It was always neat. I’d clear a small four foot wide patch of clear ice and young kids would show up and play a game on the patch of clear ice. For a break, I’d join their game for a while. Then go back to work.

By the time half the ice was clear, larger games would start happening.

By the time all the ice had been uncovered, we’d make one last pass to clear all the shaved ice off the surface, smooth everything down and the teens and adults would come out for a big game.

But by that time it would be dark and I would be so exhausted that I’d watch for a while and then head home.

As a Canadian, I will always find that absolutely unbelievable about American private health care … when someone or a family is at their lowest and during the most terrible times of their lives and health care people go up to them and say … ‘We’re sorry for your suffering and your loss … but here’s the medical bill you owe money on’
